FLASHBACK 1984: KGB defector Yuri Bezmenov Warned America about the Marxist ideological subversion.
Some 36 years ago, a Soviet defector by the name of Yuri Bezmenov, appeared in a televised interview with G. Edward Griffin, where he warned of the ideological subversion threats that America was facing.
Having worked in Moscow in the mid sixties as a media propagandist for the Russian state-controlled news agency RIA Novosti, and later as a Soviet press officer and public relations agent for the KGB, Bezmenov was an expert on Soviet propaganda.
Part of his role as a journalist and informant in the Soviet Union, was to help gather information and spread disinformation to foreign countries in order to subvert them.
In 1969, Bezmenov was assigned to spread Soviet propaganda in New Delhi, India. As he become increasingly more disgusted with the Soviet system, he began planning his defection to the West.
In 1970, Bezmenov escaped to Greece by joining a tour group while disguising himself as a hippie. Upon arrival, he was reported to the U.S. His application for asylum was rejected due to suspicion he might still be an active KGB agent.
The CIA directed him to Canada instead, where he was allowed entry under Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau (father of current Canadian PM), who adopted a multicultural policy for immigrants in 1971.
While in Canada, Bezmenov studied political science at the University of Toronto before pursuing a career as a free-lance journalist. He also wrote several books, including “Love Letter to America” under the alias “Tomas D. Schuman.”
In his 1984 interview with Griffin, the former KGB agent explained that the Marxist-Leninist ideological subversion is a form of psychological warfare.
“To change the perception of reality of every American to such an extent that despite of the abundance of information, no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interests of defending themselves, their families, their community and their country,” Bezmenov revealed.
“It’s a great brainwashing process, which goes very slow and it’s divided into four basic stages,” he added. Those four stages include:
Demoralization of a nation. This is a process that takes about 15 to 20 years to accomplish.
“Maxism-Leninism ideology is being pumped into the soft heads of at least three generations of American students without being challenged or counter-balanced by the basic values of Americanism/American patriotism.”
Bezmenov said that stubborn hippies from the sixties were occupying the positions of power in American society (i.e. government, media, education). The only way to remove these individuals from power is by re-education a new generation of “patriotically-minded and common sense people.”
The demoralization process in America, according to Bezmenov, was not only already completed for the last 25 years, but actually over-fulfilled. “Most of it is done by Americans to Americans,” he added.
Once a person has been demoralized, there’s no turning back, as facts become meaningless. “Even if I shower [a Marxist] with authentic proof, with documents, with pictures, even if I take him by force to the Soviet Union and then show him a concentration camp, he will refuse to believe it” until a “military boot crushes his balls, then he will understand.”
Destabilization of the nation. This process for this second stage takes about 2 to 5 years to complete by spreading lies and disinformation.
What matters here is the economy, foreign relations, and defense systems. “The influence of Marxist-Leninist ideas in the United States is absolutely fantastic,” Bezmenov said in dismay.
Declaring a Crisis. The process for this third stage takes about 6 weeks to formulate in order to change the course of a nation.
Bezmenov pointed to Central America as an example, where nations suffered “violent change of power structure and economy.” Declaring a crisis is a precursor to stage 4.
Period of normalization. The process for this last stage is a “cynical expression born from Soviet propaganda” that can last indefinitely.
“If you allow all the schmucks to bring the country to crisis to promise people all kinds of goodies and the paradise on earth: To destabilize your economy, to eliminate the principles of free market competition and to put a big brother government in Washington, DC, with the benevolent dictators.”
“Your leftists,” Bezmenov warned, “All these professors and all this beautiful civil rights defenders, they are instrumental in the process of the subversion.”
When the job is completed, the useful idiots will not be needed anymore and will come to the harsh realization that their utopia-like society will not materialize they way they imagined it.
“They will be lined up against the wall and shot,” he said.
The time bomb of Communism is ticking, he warned. “Every second, the disaster is coming closer and closer. Unlike myself, you will have nowhere to defect to, unless you want to live in Antarctica with penguins.”
This is it. This is the last country of freedom.
In order to avoid becoming a Communist country, Bezmenov reiterated that Americans need to learn the truth about this oppressive political system.
“There must be a very strong national effort to educate people in the spirit of real patriotism,” he said, adding that people also need to understand “the real danger of socialist, communist… welfare state, big brother government.”
If communism in America is ever implemented, people’s freedom “will vanish” and never come back.
“You have precious little time to save yourself,” he warned..
A recent article published by NPR stated that “socialism isn’t popular with most Americans.” While that statement is true, their data also shows that a staggering 28% of Americans who where polled favored Socialism. About 50% of those who favor Socialism are Democrats.
This means that more than a quarter of the US population has favorable views of Socialism, which translates to tens of millions of people.
We can now understand why Marxist groups in America are becoming more and more accepted in the US. As Bezmenov indicated decades ago, the education system, along with the media, have been controlled by people on the left the entire time.
Ironically, if America ever does become a Communist nation, most of those who advocated for it will be marked for extermination, according to Bezmenov.
