Nancy Pelosi appeared on CNN’s AC360 with host Anderson Cooper on Monday, and made a bizarre statement regarding President Donald’s Trump weight and health.
Cooper asked Pelosi on her thoughts about Trump taking the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine to avert the coronavirus.
“Madam Speaker, what is your reaction to the president saying he is now taking hydroxychloroquine? Are you concerned,” Cooper asked.
Pelosi began by congratulating Cooper on his “new baby” and by reminding “how important it is to keep the world safe for the children” now that he is a father.
“As far as the president is concerned… I would rather he be not taking something that has not been approved by the scientists, especially in his age group and his – shall we say – weight group… morbidly obese, they say,” Pelosi said, before concluding that “it’s not a good idea.”
Trump, who stands 6’3” tall is believed to be anywhere between 239 to 245 lbs.
According the a Body Mass Index (BMI) calculator provided by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, that would give Trump a BMI score of approximately 29.9 to 30.6, which puts the president between the overweight and obesity group.
In order to be considered morbidly obese, a score of 40 or above is required, or a minimum of 320 lbs for someone of Trump’s height.
Pelosi and Trump are known to throw insults at each other. In March, Pelosi said that Trump is the “most dangerous person in history of America.”
In April, Trump called Pelosi an “inherently dumb person.”
