Trump sends federal law enforcement officers to Chicago to end the bloodshed.

July 23, 2020

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that his administration has “no choice but to get involved” in ending the bloodshed in Democrat-run cities that are “plagued” by violent crime.

Trump blamed “extreme politicians” for their “anti-police crusade” and efforts to shut down and defund the police, which has led to a surge in violent crimes almost in mostly large Liberal cities across the country.

This past weekend alone in Chicago, 70 people were shot, 10 of whom were killed, bringing to total number of homicides in the Democrat controlled city to almost 400 since the beginning of January.

This is not the first time Trump has mentioned sending the feds to Chicago. Three years ago, he wrote, “If Chicago doesn’t fix the horrible “carnage” going on, 228 shootings in 2017 with 42 killings (up 24% from 2016), I will send in the Feds!”

Last week, Trump hinted that his patience with Democrat leaders was running thin. “The Radical Left Democrats, who totally control Biden, will destroy our Country as we know it. Unimaginably bad things would happen to America. Look at Portland, where the pols are just fine with 50 days of anarchy. We sent in help. Look at New York, Chicago, Philadelphia. NO!” he wrote on Twitter.

Chicago’s mayor Lori Lightfoot fired back at Trump with a very blunt Tweet to threatened to stop him from sending federal agents. “I will not allow troops in Chicago, and I will do everything in my power to stop you,” she wrote in her tweet.

With Lightfoot being seemingly clueless on how to handle the rise of violent crimes in her city, Trump decided it was time to deliver on his promise.

“Today I’m announcing a surge of federal law enforcement into American communities plagued by violent crime,” Trump said after accusing Democrats politicians of relentlessly vilifying “our law enforcement heroes.”

Trump explained that Democrats’ effort to “shut down policing in their own communities has led to a shocking explosion of shootings, killings, murders and heinous crimes of violence” and has vowed that “this bloodshed will end.”

But just as Democrat politicians in Portland, Oregon, rejected Trump’s help to send the feds, Chicago’s 57-year old mayor is likewise doing the same.

Lightfoot reiterated her position a day prior to Trump’s announcement. “Under no circumstances will I allow Donald Trump’s troops to come to Chicago and terrorize our residents,” Lightfoot stated.

Trump had some very harsh words for city leaders and criticized their backwards agenda. “Politicians running many of our cities have put interests of criminals above law-abiding citizens,” he said.

“These same politicians have now embraced the far-left movement to break up our police departments, causing violent crime in their cities to spiral – and I mean spiral seriously – out of control,” Trump said, before citing murder rates in places like New York, Philadelphia, Minneapolis and Chicago.

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham welcomed the federal help, but only to assist local police with community policing and public safety.

However, she cautioned that, “If the Trump administration wishes to antagonize New Mexicans and Americans with authoritarian, unnecessary and unaccountable military-style ‘crackdowns,’ they have no business whatsoever in New Mexico.”
